Spring Challenge - Day 7

Today is the last day.  I've had lots of fun and I hope everyone else has too!!  :)  Today will be my favorite day of the Spring Challenge I think, because I will be sharing bonus photos!  So without further delay, here they are:

Iris.

More Iris's.

I think that this is the best photo I've ever taken.  Ever.
It's an up-close shot of the Iris.

A Mourning Dove preening himself.

A Bluebird taking a bath..... a post coming with more pictures of this cute little guy soon!

Clover.  I have a post all written up called "In a Patch of Clover".
I will publish it sometime after Easter.

And that's the last picture for the Spring Challenge!  Tomorrow I will do a "wrap-up" post if I have the time!

Spring Challenge - Day 1

I'm excited about this challenge!  I've been taking photos and getting them ready for a while now!
I'll be posting around two or three pictures a day.  You certainly don't have to do this!  It's just a fun little challenge for myself.  Here are my pictures for the day:

What else says spring besides a robin?  :)

Can you see the gnat?  I never noticed it was there until I looked at the picture again!!  Also, these flowers are called Star Violets.  They are extremely small but quite fun to photograph.

I love the different colors in this one!!  The blue sky, the white flowers, and the dark limbs of the tree.

Black and White Friday

Grasses.

These little flowers look so great in b/w!

And this is a peek at what our gardens look like.  I'll probably get to doing a post on our garden in a week or so.  I will tell you that I helped build them.... but that's it!!!

Just a few reminders for everyone:

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
What have I done for St. Patrick's day?  Well, I took pictures of clover,  I'm writing this in green and I'm reading about St. Patrick.  What are you doing for St. Patrick's Day?

Many Views - Continued

I really would have liked these pictures to be in the first post I did on the dandelion.  I'm not sure why I didn't include them...
I used different back-rounds and lighting for these.  Two are taken in sunset lighting and one is taken with a storm coming(and what a storm it was!!!).

Some little spider has decided to launch a silk from the dandelion to the blade of grass.

The picture will also tell you that it has been blowing hard because many of the seed heads are already gone.

Well!  I've taken seven different photos of the same plant!!  I challenge anyone and everyone to try this!!!

Many Views - The Dandelion

Dandelions are blooming everywhere around here!!  I took quite a few pictures of them... challenging myself to get different angles. Here's something I bet you didn't know: The leaves of the plant have very deep toothed edges, so in "Old French" it was called a  Dent-de-lion, which means "lion's tooth".  Here's another little nugget of history about the dandelion:  The dandelion was first brought to the Midwest from Europe to provide food for honeybees.
By the way.... I highly suggest "clicking" on the photos.  They look nicer when you do that!  :)

This is just a straight on shot.

This is looking up the plant shot.

This one really is the best one.  :)  This is a ground view.

Getting Ready for Spring

Is spring trying to peek through where you are?  It certainly is here.  At times I think that it's already here!  Like today for instance, the temperatures are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!  And a few short-sleeve shirts have found their way into my closet. Rosemary is in bloom, new tiny buds are everywhere, and flowers are now dotting the landscape.
We are coming up on my blog's first year anniversary!!!  It's on March 19!  Here are some of my idea's to celebrate:
  • A fresh new blog "theme" for spring.  My poll is tied between two... ugh.  :D  If you feel inclined to break this tie then please look for the poll on my sidebar.  The poll closes on March 14 so hopefully I can get the new theme up for the first year anniversary.
  •  The Spring Challenge that I'm holding at the end of this month!  I can't wait for it to start!  I've been taking pictures and saving them for the challenge!  I hope you all have started taking pictures for it!
  • I'll post a list of the "highlights" from this year: favorite post, best picture, etc.

What are you planing to do in Spring?
