A New Season Draws Near...

I can't believe that we have gone from 110 degrees to 83 degrees in less than a month!  And in the middle of August no less!  Of course, the nip of fall is not even hinting it's presence yet - it is still humid and kinda muggy.  But a steady breeze from the north promises that the crisp mornings will come.  Fall has to be my favorite season!  I look forward to getting up early in the morning and going on brisk walks with our dogs at my side(and my camera ;) ).

So, photography wise, what have I been up to lately?  Well I have really been enjoying learning my way around my new camera!!  I will be working on a page about my camera later this month hopefully.  ;)

There is also a book I've been eyeing for a while - "Photographing Waterdrops: Exploring Macro Worlds with Harold Davis".  Have any of you ever read it?

And I hope to buy a new lens for my camera sometime in the future!  I'm not sure if I want a macro lens or a telephoto lens.

A New Lens...

I have been enjoying a lovely summer!  True, the temperatures have been sweltering, but it has only made any rain that we receive all the more refreshing!!
I have also enjoyed my NEW CAMERA!!!!  All the pictures in this post are taken with a Canon Rebel that I bought from my friend.  :)

This is a Potato Blossom.

A Pumpkin blossom.

The first Pumpkin of the year!

Another Pumpkin blossom... this picture came out neat... it sorta looks like the flower is "glowing".

Have a nice weekend!

Black and White Friday #6

Sadly that little bug that is slightly out of focus would not get off the rose for me to take the pictures, but they still came out great!

Isn't this one incredibly looking?  Just the dark storm rolling over the mountains(I know... some of you are laughing at what we call mountains)

:)  More dew drops!

May I just say how the photo quality of these pictures is..... AMAZING!  That is due to the new camera that I now proudly own(a post on that later)!!  :)
I am working on a much longer post that will hopefully get published sometime next week!  And yes, there are many more dew drop pictures!  :)

Summer Changes

I hope all of you really like the new design!  Personally, I love it!!!  :)

I finally did get some butterfly pictures.  We have a large Butterfly Bush and it was filled with lots of flying insects!  ;)

Humble Bumble Bee.

Summer Daisies.

Ok, I know that occasionally I step outside the category of "nature".  Cute toes are no exception... but, I couldn't resist!!  And come on!  Who doesn't want to see a pair of cute toes happily playing in the sand?

Enjoy Summer!

Summer Days...

These early summer days have been filled with quiet afternoons reading in the sunshine.  There is nothing like a good book(truthfully - they're my school books...), warm sunshine and the sound of happy chicks.  :)
Our gardens are doing well and the birds are busily frittering over nesting material.

Our happy little hydranga plant is doing well!  It has made it's first blossom!  :)

Our pond is bubbling along nicely!!

And our butterfly bush is focused on making symetrical leaves....

And I REALLY do intend on doing a post on our Barn Swallows!!!!!  I'm not sure what's holding me back.... I have pictures, all I need to do is put together a post!!  :D

Many Views

Queen Anne's Lace
~

I love the Queen Anne's Lace around here!!  It looks like floating white clouds in a field.  :)  It's so enchanting.  So many little insects also love this flower and I have seen many species of wasps, bee, beetles, gnats and unknown things with wings.

I like the pink tint of the outside flower clusters on this one.

Now here is where I must explain something.  This picture(I do believe) is not Queen Anne's Lace but Hemlock.  Hemlock looks extremely similar to QAL but it has a fatal poison.  For that reason we never pick QAL just in case we are wrong and accidently get some Hemlock in there.

I had fun identifying this wasp.  I've have seen before and I wondered what it was.  I found out that it's a Spider Wasp.  It eats...well... spiders!  I also read that he can deliver a very painful sting.... I'm glad I didn't disturb him while I took this picture... :)

That's it for now.  I shall probably end up having a ton of pictures of QAL before the summer is up just because they are so pretty.  :)

Warm days..

I blurred this photo on purpose..... it sorta looks like an impressionist painting.

A pair of Purple Martins.  I'm not sure what the male is thinking.....

I L.O.V.E wild fields.
Of course it is always sad around here when the farmers come to cut them for hay.
:(

This little toad was sunning himself on our gardens.
(Please ignore the warped board...)

He hopped down and enjoyed the grass while I took pictures of him....

I like how his head is in focus but the rest of his body isn't.

This is really the best photo of him.

A Mourning Dove.  In case you are wondering what the yellow stuff behind it is.... it's more sneeze-weed.

:)  I like this one alot.  It makes a wonderful computer backround...

Can anyone guess what bird this is?  I'll give you two more hints... They are nesting on our front porch and are very close in shape to the Purple Martin.  Be watching because I'll be doing a post on them soon.

And I would like to say Happy Birthday to Katydids and Bluebirds!!!
She is a wonderful photographer and birder!
If you haven't already then go take a look at her blog
