Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! 

 I haven't posted on here in quite a while!!  I was VERY busy for a little while this early fall and so un-capable of taking any pictures.  :(  But life has returned to a somewhat normal state and I have started taking pictures again.  Sadly I was unable to host a Fall Challenge.  :(  Maybe next year....

Here are a few that I have taken recently that came out fairly good:

This is a skipper moth that has actually 

gotten stuck in the spider web of the leaf.  If only that moth wern't 

there I think the picture would be perfect!  I love the sun's position!!

Just the colors in this are warm and inviting! However I'm afraid taking pictures of leaves on the ground is not one of my stronger talents.... ;)

Catalpa Tree Blooms

This is the first year that our Catalpa tree has decided to bloom.  We planted them as "sticks" a long time ago and now they are big enough to send out blooms.  

I took these pictures right before a big storm so the lighting is a little strange..... almost antique looking.

Warm days..

I blurred this photo on purpose..... it sorta looks like an impressionist painting.  

A pair of Purple Martins.  I'm not sure what the male is thinking.....

Of course it is always sad around here when the farmers come to cut them for hay.

This little toad was sunning himself on our gardens.

He hopped down and enjoyed the grass while I took pictures of him....

I like how his head is in focus but the rest of his body isn't.  

This is really the best photo of him.  

A Mourning Dove.  In case you are wondering what the yellow stuff behind it is.... it's more sneeze-weed.  

:)  I like this one alot.  It makes a wonderful computer backround...

Can anyone guess what bird this is?  I'll give you two more hints... They are nesting on our front porch and are very close in shape to the Purple Martin.  Be watching because I'll be doing a post on them soon.  

And I would like to say Happy Birthday to Katydids and Bluebirds!!!  

She is a wonderful photographer and birder!

Bluebird Bath

I hung out with a Bluebird while he took a bath.   Sorry about the distracting backround.... this birdbath is in our garden and we have phlox that bloom bright pink flowers behind it.

This one is a-m-a-z-i-n-g for me because I had NO CLUE the Bluebird was flying until I took the photo!!  :D  I do wish it was taken at a different angle though... so that you could actually see the head.

There is nothing quite as calming and peaceful as sitting in a patch of clover on a warm, breezy, spring day photographing ladybugs, waiting for a bee to appear and having a complete conversation with a nearby robin. 
My main motive for visiting this certain plant was because I wanted a picture of a bee, sitting happily on a flower of clover.  I had created a perfect picture of it in my mind.  I suppose I was inspired by this picture that I saw.  I guess I went about it all wrong.... I was trying to get nature to work for me... when really, you must work with nature.  I sat for 45 minutes and no bee pictures.  I wasn't disappointed.... I was much too distracted with the large Ladybug population that this clover held.
  
I had fun tracking different Ladybugs in and out of the clover and grasses.  One of them looked like a ladybug, but was shaped as a long oval, instead of the usual "round as a tomato" back.  Here are some of the pictures that I took of the ladybugs:

As for my conversation with the Robin... well... it was quite enjoyable.  I'm not sure what we talked about... the weather, the sun, the lack of bugs... but whatever it was she had quite a bit to say about it.  She had perched herself happily in a nearby tree and was quite pleased to have someone to discuss things with.  Sadly I didn't get any pictures of her.

Other things that I discovered:

There is some sort of bug on this flower head.  I'm not really sure what it is.... but it looks cool.

This little guy was either sunning himself or waiting for dinner.  :D  

This is in sunset lighting.  This one came out really good.  :) 

Overall, I had lots of fun.  Who knew that just sitting in a patch of clover you could discover so many things?!
