Black and White Friday #6

Sadly that little bug that is slightly out of focus would not get off the rose for me to take the pictures, but they still came out great!

Isn't this one incredibly looking?  Just the dark storm rolling over the mountains(I know... some of you are laughing at what we call mountains)

:)  More dew drops!

May I just say how the photo quality of these pictures is..... AMAZING!  That is due to the new camera that I now proudly own(a post on that later)!!  :)
I am working on a much longer post that will hopefully get published sometime next week!  And yes, there are many more dew drop pictures!  :)

Summer Changes

I hope all of you really like the new design!  Personally, I love it!!!  :)

I finally did get some butterfly pictures.  We have a large Butterfly Bush and it was filled with lots of flying insects!  ;)

Humble Bumble Bee.

Summer Daisies.

Ok, I know that occasionally I step outside the category of "nature".  Cute toes are no exception... but, I couldn't resist!!  And come on!  Who doesn't want to see a pair of cute toes happily playing in the sand?

Enjoy Summer!

Barn Swallows ~

Our Barn Swallows returned to us this year with their off-spring to build nests and raise their young.  These amazing birds are great for getting rid of bugs!!  Before we had Barn Swallows we had TONS of wasps every summer!!  But now we see an average of three wasps each year.... TOTAL!!!  Another great thing about these birds is that they are incredible to watch!!!  If you sit outside on a summer evening you can watch these birds zip around and make tight turns just to catch a bug!!  But there are a few "cons" to these birds as well.... First of all, the butterfly population goes down :(.   And secondly, since they make mud nests it does get a little messy.  :)

First they made their nests.  They made it mostly from mud but it had other things mixed in as well - grasses, small sticks, we even found horse hair!!

Here is one of them that decided since all the pillars were taken... she would just stick her nest right on the wall!  It took a little longer to build but was still nice and cozy.

Mama is sitting on her eggs.  :)

And before we knew it a little head peeped over the edge of the nest!!
:)

There are three fuzzy little baby barn swallows in this nest.  You can't see the third one because he is in the back.

This picture was taken this afternoon.  They are already squeezing themselves right over the nest, which means it won't be long until they are learning to fly.  :)
{edit: Today(June 11) the little fledglings were taken out for their first flying lesson}

Happy Birding!

Catalpa Tree Blooms

This is the first year that our Catalpa tree has decided to bloom.  We planted them as "sticks" a long time ago and now they are big enough to send out blooms.
I took these pictures right before a big storm so the lighting is a little strange..... almost antique looking.

Thanks for stopping by!

Black and White Friday

Such a peaceful scene.  :)

My little kitten(who is no longer kitten size :(  ) has appeared on here before.  He was the subject for a Christmas photo I did.  He has now grown into a slightly aloof cat.  Normally I wouldn't prefer putting pictures on here of a pet.... but he looks so GREAT in B/W!!  And he is a wild cat anyway so I put them up here.

Doesn't he have a.d.o.r.a.b.l.e paws?!?!?!?

He thinks he is such a great model for the camera!  :D

:)  Sorry the ears are cut off....
That's it for now!!

Random Photos

I mentioned that I was going to take a walk outside the other day... these are the fruits of my labor!  :D  And it was especially neat because I got to use my Mom's camera, which is fancier than mine.  :) I was mainly just practicing with it because I'm going to be using it to take all my bird pictures.  Sadly, my little camera can't handle pictures with birds.  :(  I know.  Kinda pathetic.

These seeds have already popped open.  They are from our crape myrtle.

Just random grasses..... not quite sure exactly what *kind* of grass they are.....
OH!!  I was finally able to get a DANDELION!!!!  It never comes out right on my camera...
But on my mom's camera?  It couldn't be BETTER!!!!  *sinks in chair*

My little sister.  :)  She was waiting until I had finished taking a  picture of the
dandelion so that she could pick it.

I know.  I said that  I wouldn't be taking any more pictures of these addicting berries!!!! But truly... they do have a perfect roundness about them.  And they are such a nice shade of blue.  :)
Does anyone have any clue as to what they are?  I can't find them anywhere!
What did I learn from this post?
That I need to start saving for a nice....black... expensive looking camera....

And the Sun Peeks Through...

It actually has been sunny and warm here lately(even though as I write this it is gently raining outside...again...ugh.).  Today was warm and breezy.  A wonderful combination.  :)

These are pictures I took a little while ago.  I was practicing taking pictures of puddles, a great thing to brush up on right now...can you tell?

I shall end on that note.  I need to take more pictures!  :)
Have a great weekend,
